Methane & Air and Water Quality Concerns
Oil and gas development negatively affects air and water quality. Construction, drilling, storage, transportation, processing, and the burning of fossil fuels are all sources of serious pollutants - including known carcinogens, radioactive substances, heavy metals, and other contaminants known to harm humans and the environment. Methane is the primary component of natural gas, and when it's released into the atmosphere before being burned, it traps heat and contributes to climate change. The photos here illustrate some of the harms fossil fuel industries wreak on the environment.
