Hurricane Sandy (2012): 60 km Wind Area Forecast

The National Hurricane Center (part of the U.S. National Weather Service) has produced this map showing the probability of 39 miles per hour (60 km per hour) wind from hurricane Sandy.

 

The purple area is the area that there's a 90% to 100% chance that it would encounter sustained 60 km per hour wind. The area includes eastern North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, southern New York, New York City, Long Island, Connecticut and Masssachusetts.

 

Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, and part of Pennsylvania will encounter hurricane force wind (119 km per hour or 74 miles per hour) later on Monday 2012-10-29.
