Exclusion Zone Checkpoint
Here at the checkpoint we all had to exit the coach and present our passport to be checked by the checkpoint guards before allowing us in. You need to have booked the tour at least 2 weeks before you want to go on one and provide the passport details then. This is to allow time for the documentation to be prepared by the authorities. Once you pass the checkpoint you leave the coach again and issued a radiation measuring device to wear on a lanyard around your neck. This is handed back when you leave and both provides data on radiation levels over time in the area and also checks to make sure that the tour guides are not taking you to dangerous areas if it receives a dosage higher than expected. I couldn't take a picture of the checkpoint itself and pictures of security measures are not permitted.
