Bluetooth / Wifi Update for MacPro 5,1
Photos of the work required to replace the stock wifi / bluetooth card on a 2010 Mac Pro (5,1).

The replacement card is a Broadcom BCM94360CD, which provides 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac wifi and supports Bluetooth 4.0. With this card installed the MacPro supports the "Handoff / Continuity / Airdrop" features introduced with OS X 10.10 / Yosemite.

The update is not complicated, but a bit fiddly to do as working space is small.

In addition to the Broadcom BCM94360CD card (available easily online from Amazon etc.) you need a carrier card (as the slot in the Mac Pro is a different shape to the original wireless card you are replacing), and either a new Bluetooth antenna, or an antenna extension cable (to re-use the MacPro's built-in bluetooth antenna). For this update, I used parts I purchased from OSXWifi.com (www.osxwifi.com/adapters/apple-broadcom-bcm94360cd-802-11...)

The update took about 20 minutes to do, and required one special tool - a small bore Philips head screwdriver.
