OMG! I love it in this yarn. I know I've said that before, but seriously I want to make one like this for my couch now. Maybe worsted weight, a touch of alpaca. Hmmmmmm.

@ Marie and Steph - yes - one of the dyeables...but one w/out tags (and a TON of yardage). I'll have to bring a sample w me to Rhinebeck...i'm sure SOMEONE will be able to help me figure out fiber (at least). In any case, it's a cozy and warm shawl - thanks again!

If it very soft and has a little sheen to it, it is possible that it is the same awesome merino/silk that I made my February Lady sweater out of (I dyed it grey after knitting it).

@ Marie - um, YES...that has to be it! In my quest to figure it out I've been guessing those two fibers - plus, it's softer without a lot of "spring" and I would have really had to put elbow grease into blocking it harder (didn't want to budge as much). Does that sound right?

good thing I save all my email - in 8/2007 I mentioned I had 2 lbs of merino/silk and some other assorted yarns for Steph. I think I can safely say that is yarn is Ashland Bay Windsor yarn 50/50 merino/silk. The hank was 1 lb and about 1120 yards.

Yes, the hanks were HUGE! Also, there's one other large hank of something else; and a couple lace weights, which I think are the same KP alpaca/blend I've been using for my Frost Flowers shawl. So much of you in my everyday knitting xoxoxo
