The Lorraine Motel

406 Mulberry Street, Memphis. It was here on 4 April 1968 that Martin Luther King was assassinated. on the balcony outside Room 306 (marked by the wreath). After the Motel went bankrupt in 1982 it was purchased by local businessmen as a shrine to King, which evolved into the National Civil Rights Museum which opened here in 1992.
