Dunn-line (Veolia Transport) Leyland Lion E935CDS at Sun Inn, Tuxford, 10/08/2006

One of the more unusual vehicles operated by Dunn-line was this Alexander bodied Leyland Lion E935CDS. This bus was new to Clydeside Scottish but also operated in Chester and for Nottingham City Transport before arriving at Dunn-line. It was always a fairly powerful machine, I heard a rumour that one driver overtook Scott Dunn in his Porsche with it doing well over 70! Needless to say the engine was governed back a little afterwards, but it was still good for over 60 on a long enough road. I'll go as far to say that this was my favourite Dunn-line bus, and probably the only operational Leyland in the fleet at the time the photo was taken.

This photo was taken at The Sun Inn at Tuxford on 10th August 2006. The Sun Inn was and still is the main bus stop in Tuxford, being a terminus for several services and a main stopping point for several others. I was operating service 36 from Retford to Ollerton, and yes that is my ugly mug hanging out of the cab! I only got to drive this fine machine a few times, it was normally based at Nottingham Depot, only spending time at Tuxford to cover for vehicle shortages. It was eventually sold to an operator in the north west (I forget who!) and I think it has changed hands a few times but apparently still exists somewhere today.
