Selfridges - London - Decorated In 1935
A scan from a number of negatives by an unknown photographer. This photograph was taken whilst the decorations were being placed at the front of the Selfridges store in Oxford Street, London, England, for the 1935 King George V jubilee celebrations.
From the crowds, it is obvious that Oxford Street had been shut to traffic (other negatives confirm this). Workmen can be seen with ladders on the balcony above the doorway. The Union Flags are enormous ... so too is the Britannia, lions and plinth on the roof.
