2016_10_13_Aurora (ex-CME) 3

Two arcs!

Slightly weird aurora tonight - started off quite early at about 1940hrs. Washed out against a 92% full Moon - initally a single arc with some rays at about 15 degrees and then a second very high arc formed at about 45 degrees.

It was actually difficult to get both arcs in the same frame on a 14mm lens.

It was however a pleasure to meet someone Ive only chatted to online - Tyler Collins! He was also out chasing the aurora!

Samyang 24mm f/1.4 at f/2

The stats for tonight were amazingly good but washed out by 92% moon.

Substorm in expansion.

Dombas magnetometer in Norway showing 227 nT deviation.

Uni of Lancaster magnetometer showing 114.3 nT deviation.

IMF Bt = 23.2 nT

IMF Bz = -17.6 nT South (!!!)

Solar wind 763 km/s

Kp = 6.
