Jane Austen - deserted by her followers during lockdown
This town square is usually bustling. It is where the market is held and where people meet. With lockdown it is deserted - at least the rubbish is not lying but it has been collected in a plastic bag and left for the moment at the door. I wonder if Jane Austen would have ventured into the town to do her shopping during a pandemic or stayed out at Steventon, where her father was the minister. Here she is looking as if she has just collected some books and perhaps is on her way to London St. to catch a post coach back to her village.
