On Highway 550 in Colorado

This is generally regarded as one of the best roads to drive in the world. This section is between Silverton and Ouray. As there is no side barrier and often a long drop it demands driving with care and in Winter is very hazardous.

 

Notwithstanding the need for caution the road provides great views of the Rockies. This is known as the Million Dollar Highway.
