I would like to take this opportunity to apologise over the naming of the ever-popular moniker for somebody else's cat. You gave us lots of great ideas and then voted for your favourite name on the website.

Your first choice was Mittens and your second choice was Derek. Part of the production team working on the memo at the time decided that it would be better to choose Derek, as they felt this suited the kitten better. This was wrong because we had said that it was your vote that would decide.

The word "Mittens" is also used euphemistically in certain circles to denote something quite indescribable. We are sorry about this, and we will be apologising again next Tuesday.

Of course this isn't the first time we've seen kiddies tempted by questionable food practices. Judging by the green appearance I think some of the stuff they sell at my local S*******ys dates from around 1949 too.

I'm a little late in making this observation ... but that is fecking weird.

It may be weird, but there is a long tradition of counting with food. Archaeological excavations at Pompeii have revealed that the ancient Romans taught their children numeracy with sausage rolls.

The following illustration shows a reconstruction of the numbers 1 to 3

i didn't know there was a Greggs bakery in pompeii

    11. dr_loplop 76 months ago | reply

Oh yes! The sausage rolls sold in Greggs today are exactly the same ones they baked in Roman times. You see, they don't have a very high turnover of stock.
