Photographer: Warwick Brookes. Ca. 1870s

(Beniah Brawn identified this man as Sidi, or Sayyid, Mustafa Ben-Yusuf)

SAYYID MUSTAFA BEN-YUSUF is a native of Algiers. He came from Paris to England to the Exhibition of 1862, with a married sister and her husband. At the Crystal Palace, Sydenham, a copy of St. John's Gospel, in Arabic, was given him, which led to his Baptism in 1865. He has been at King's College, London, and Downing College, Cambridge, and he is now studying for a Medical degree, and will return to the East as a Christian Physician. (The Warden's Log Book)
