Watergate, Edinburgh
The backs of the buildings on the north side of Abbey Strand from Abbeyhill. The nearest one is labelled Watergate, and marks the site of the eastern gate to Canongate dating from before the 16th century. Today the two buildings in the image stand at the entrance to the grounds of the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the east end of the Royal Mile. The flags at the right edge of the photo stand in front of the Scottish Parliament. Edinburgh, Scotland, 8 October 2013.
