Google Core Algorithm and the Ranking Changes
When we talk about Google core algorithm, it’s mainly about the quality. Now, the quality is shared by every aspect of the website. There are over 200 #ranking factors according to which Google ranks a website. Thus, it can be said that there are 200 updates which are made in Google core algorithm.
Also, an algorithm is updated to #modify the ranking criteria as well as its ability to catch and punish spam in the websites. So, when we talk about an update, it’s not just about the hanging hammer which may get dropped on the website. It can be about modified ranking criteria so that deserving websites could be brought into the spotlight.
Having that said, it would be worth mentioning how to diagnose.
Some updates affect some websites positively. Some websites already qualify for getting ranking boost according to new rules. In such situations, the websites on top will have to come down in order to make place for the newly ranked ones. However, this demotion is not actually something which the websites owners should be worried about. It’s just the good quality of other websites that helped them in getting ranked well.
Having that said, it’s worth mentioning that the man purpose of Google algorithm is not to catch the spam. It’s actually associated with the betterment of user satisfaction. When a website has better content than others, it has to be ranked well. It doesn’t mean that other websites which lie under position number one have been demoted. Those websites would be very much in the game. They can make their content better in order to regain the top position or compete for it.
Therefore, if your website has been ‘demoted’ to a lower rank from position-1, you need to be open-minded about the winner. For instance, if you own an ecommerce website which had stayed on top for quite a while, you should welcome Google’s move of giving an informative site, related to same niche as yours, the top position. Since Google has been working for a while to promote delivery of quality information, the instance of informative sites riding top #positions should be understandable for everyone. Remember, if you are still on first page, you have not been penalized.
It can be a serious matter of concern if your website has been demoted to the page-two or even lower number. It could mean that you have got a hit from the Google core #algorithm due to any error in your website; and hence you need to fix this issue as soon as you can. It’s worth mentioning here that Google can be wrong in slapping penalty. That’s why you can always apply for the manual check by telling why you were wrongly accused of something you weren’t doing.
