Jean Baptiste Charbonneau; remember the name? Sacagawea of the Lewis & Clark expedition gave birth to Jean in Mandan North Dakota. Adopted by William Clark, Jean travelled the American west as explorer, trapper, trader, and frontiersman. At 61, Jean died of pneumonia on a lonely stage stop at Danner, Oregon. There’s nothing there now except a crumbling monument to Jean and a lonely horse looking for a handout…
