No Doubt - it is a Woman!

Leonardo da Vinci is widely believed to have hidden secret messages within much of his artwork. Most scholars agree that even da Vinci’s most famous pieces contain starling anomalies that all seem to be whispering the same cryptic message. Jesus had a relationship with a women; a relationship with Mary Magdalene.
In his bestseller “The da Vinci Code” Dan Brown tries to prove (among other things) that da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper” shows Maria Magdalena next to him. If you know his artwork and Dan Browns argumentation you maybe agree - maybe not.
If you have seen the old painting in the “Museu Nacional do Azulejo” in Lisbon (this photo), I’m sure you agree, that this artist, centuries ago, was convinced that Jesus was accompanied by a woman that night.
There was no Dan Brown at this time. Why this artist was that confident?
Do you know who was the artist of this version?
