Griffin Cartwright was a small time inventor on the coast, mostly building things in his garage to better his home life. He created a pair of robotic exo-limbs to aid in building, with grippers on the end to hold things in place while he welded and to cut certain parts in half. It was a relatively quiet life, with many of his inventions failing. The robot limbs were the most promising of his inventions, and he thought of patenting them when disaster struck, literally. An earthquake ripped through his city, destroying half of it along with his house and many of his inventions. His robot arms where on him at the time, and he decided to use them to help people out of the wreckage. The locals began calling him the “crab man,” due to the claws on the arms and the orange color. Realizing that this was his true calling, that saving people gave him something to strive towards rather than failing inventions, he rebranded himself Captain Crustacean, creating a helmet and suit to fit with the theme the people he saved gave him.
