Maitres Jacques after a morning ride. The brake calipers are now Weinmann Carreras, easily my favorite single-pivot sidepull ever. There are a few more wraps of electric tape holding the right brake lever hood together, the chrome is a little more worn, but somehow this bike has been getting the lion's share of my mileage for several years now. There is just something exquisitely correct and right, mechanically, about the combination of Kogswell hubs, a Phil BB, Stronglight 93s, 28 mm Paselas, all on this particular frame with its special geometry.
I was planning to experiment with a slightly shorter stem to see if 1 cm would satisfy the old saw that the handlebars should block the view of the front hub while riding. Then I noticed the saddle was a whisker further back than my other B17 saddles, so I gently loosened the clamp, tapped it forward about 1 cm so that it looked like the others et voila, it was perfect!
