E. Peter Lougheed, served as the tenth Premier of Alberta from 1971 to 1985 as a Progressive Conservative. Mr. Loughheed, who turned 84 in July, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012

Peter Lougheed's death cast a shadow over not only his beloved Alberta but all of Canada, which the former premier said came first in his heart.

Lougheed was the grandson of Sir James Alexander Lougheed, an early Senator and prominent Alberta businessman, who built this house in 1891 for his family

Honors-----The Peter Lougheed Provincial Park was named after him in Kananaskis, Alberta. In Calgary an acute care hospital was named the Peter Lougheed Centre
