TREE SQUIRREL | KRUGER PARK - SOUTH AFRICA
Sometimes there are pictures, you haven't planned or even in mind when you travel to a destination. This is one of those shots.
I'm always looking in those old and gnarly trees for little Owls... never found one, but you never know.
A liitle colored dot kept my attention as I was driving by...
... back a few meters I found this little fellow starring at me. Framed in the bleached tree he looked at me. So far away I could only see him through my 300mm lens.
Out of the series I shot, there was only one picture, where he looked straight into the camera. Lucky me. It's not always about the Big5, when you visit Kruger. Make sure you travel open minded and follow a simple rule, I always try to remind me of; "Every sighting a day is a new first sighting and let every single one amaze and excite you."
Without that rule I might have just driven by, but now this is one of my favourite pics from the trip, hangs on my wall as a print and finished 7th in a photo-contest.
