Prism Reflections 1877

    Newer Older

Reflections and refractions in a prism and of a prism.

Should I enter this in the ELCC Reflections contest?

Hey, Flickr says it's my 8th Most Interesting Pic. Pretty cool!

kaniyayo, lacaestmeda, J. D. Ebberly, and 2 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Man, i like this better than any of the others, but as you have already determined, my opinion does not carry much weight with the judges.

Extremely cool. You might try cropping it to isolate the colors and shapes.

Here are 3 possibilities--I don't know which one, if any work best. Comments from others?

      Second possible crop

      Yet another possibiltiy--which is best?

Possible crop of Steve Burke's Prism photo

Since she can't decide, why don't you leave it alone.

Hmmm, I like the original, and I like the third crop, but which is better? Not sure, anyone else have an opinion?

Thanks for taking the time and doing that, Rhonda! You guys sure are good at seeing things I don't, like cool cropping possibilities, and stuff.

Wow.. Stevie, you are entering into a league of your own.. but I am missing your poems now ;)
hmm, I like the hand but maybe its too distracting, the third one may be nicer :)
All the colors of our life
      have been filtered
      and laid bare
who was to know my plain life
      was in fact a rainbow!

I like the B&W glasses the best, LOL! See? I'm no help :)

    7. sburke2478 76 months ago | reply

Uh, oh, it's going to be hard to pick my three best entries for Reflections, I can tell. And even harder to come up with a poem--what the heck rhymes with prism?

The glass has no color and yet
Add sun and a rainbow you get.
      The mirror sits there
      And tries not to care
But it can't help but pause and reflect.

That poem was so good, I'm gonna give myself a gold star.

I like the original, it's very interesting!! Love those colors!

      Haiku be written
      Steve the budding poet
      done then shall say moo.

    10. sburke2478 75 months ago | reply

Thanks, hmcpheres57! Amitabh: Moo?! I think I'm turning into Elsie the Cow here! Either that or the knight that didn't qualify for the Knights Who Say, "Nee!"

    11. sburke2478 75 months ago | reply

I picked the CROPPED version of this one, in case the hand was too distracting. We'll see if it was a good choice or not.

    12. BobWeber 75 months ago | reply

Steve, I like the one with the hand since it gives a context that explains the image.

    13. sburke2478 75 months ago | reply

Oh, really? Oh, dear. I hope they like the other one, that's what I turned in. It was a hard choice.

    14. Amitabh T 75 months ago | reply

oh! Let me explain Steve...A distinguished professor here teaching Quantum algorithms mentioned moo in context of Zen Buddhist haikus..yes, the moo ...you can say 'nee' if you prefer :) ... The great thing is it seems to be is this time the category is going to be hot...I've seen some good ones lining up for this one!

    15. sburke2478 75 months ago | reply

I see...Quantum algorithms, the moo, and Zen Buddhist haikus...that's quite a mooving tale. Yes, it may be much harder to snag a ribbon this month. I've seen at least two that oughta give me a good run for my money, including one of yours--unless we tie again!

I may not have enough of the moo in my reflections pics--if I did, I'd have the oom.

    16. sburke2478 75 months ago | reply

Nope, Amitabh and his Girl in Judson's Hat Sitting On A Mirror Wishing She Had Clothes On definitely had more oom than any of mine, but I tried. Dude got 14, 1st place! Nice. The cropped version of this only got Honorable Mention, and it may have scored the same whether I used the cropped one or not.
