The Beams (1735)

The Beams, a floor beam and a vertical support beam, remnants from the World Trade Center's Twin Towers after the infamous terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

They are now on display in a memorial chapel/bell tower in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the historic Barelas neighborhood, at the corner of Fourth and Stover, Albuquerque, New Mexico (where I lead two choirs and play the organ).

The vertical beam points upwards to the bell in the bell tower, to Heaven, and to hope and resurrection.

A picture of the World Trade Center's twin towers as they looked before the attack hangs on the wall next to the beams.

Other items relating to the 9/11 Attack are also memorialized in the small chapel/bell tower, including a large plaque with the names of those who died.

One can visit The Beams at Sacred Heart Parish after any of the masses: Saturday 5:00 pm, Sunday 8:00 am (Spanish) and 10:00 am (all times Mountain Standard Time.)
