The eight-story Polissya hotel (Готе́ль Полісся) located in the center of the abandoned city of Pripyat is one of the tallest buildings on Kurchatova Street. The hotel was constructed in the 1970s to provide lodging for high profile delegations, senior party officials, and other visitors to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Inside of the hotel was a beautiful nightclub with vibrant red walls.
After the accident, the hotel was used as a command post for operations at the nuclear power plant. The helicopter operations were observed from atop the Polissya Hotel.
