An Unearthly Look to a Big Bend Landscape (Black & White, Big Bend National Park)
During my last trip to Big Bend National Park, I hadn't had much of a chance to explore any of the desert trails and take in views of the lesser known and opting for the more prominently hiked areas of this national park. So after a morning hike along the Boquillas Canyon, I headed into another part of the park to explore and hike the Grapevine Hills Trail. What I knew about this trail wasn't much other than near the end with the balanced rocks, so I had my eyes open to take in view. Seemingly unearthly was a pretty descriptive word for this setting with the rocky outcrops from another age. While part of me wants to zoom into these spires ahead or crop for a wider angled view, I decided to use the nearby desert landscape to complement this view. In fact, after converting to black & white with Silver Efex Pro 2, I found the image having even more of that eerie feeling with some adjustments to color filters used and the final image's tonal contrast.
