Ecce Homo Arch, Via Dolorosa

'Ecce Homo' means "Behold the Man'. These words, spoken by Pilate, give their name to the 2nd Century Roman arch, above, which spans the Via Dolorosa near the second Station of the Cross.

The main span of the arch is incorporated in the the Soeurs de Sion Convent (left), built in 1857 on what was believed to be the site of the Antonia Fortress where the trial took place.
