Ancient Clam

Once a living thing, I was,

Living safe within a sandy seabed,

Feeding with long siphons protruding above the sand,

Sucking in food from the seawater above,

Now I remain petrified,

As a shadow, from the past,

Cemented by the sand grains,

Which once was my shelter,

300 million years ago.
