may 30 #mmmay14 dress with belt and jacket J full
I've been meaning to trace out this pattern for more than a year since I first saw it on Karyn from Make Something. She has a wonderful blog curating her sewing from many different Japanese sewing books. And then Sanae Ishida read my mind when she did hers in green linen, as well- I think our minds must share similar wavelengths!
Pattern 'J' from Happy Homemade Sew Chic, this is olive green linen and as the pattern pieces were placed on the fabric I noticed that the selvages could be used for the front- less work for me and I think it looks a little different.
An easy sew, for sure- although disaster was barely averted as I didn't add seam allowances thinking there would tons of ease- note to self: always add seam allowances to sleeves and armholes. A scant seam allowance makes it a perfect fit for everything except raising my arms above my head.
Next time I make this, I'll add interfacing to my belt pieces to avoid tearing/stretching/etc.
This jacket is probably a favorite make and, in my opinion, looks like something I could find in stores.
