Ait Benhaddou at dawn 3
We had been around the city the previous evening, getting views over the desert from the top as the sun went down, then returning to the hotel across the valley to sleep. The chance of photographing the city again as the sun rose next morning was too good to miss, and I slipped out again around 5.30am, just before before the sun had come up. As may be seen, then sun had just slipped over the horizon when I took this.
The city is very close to a wide riverbed, with just a small amount of water flowing through in September. I was able to find a spot with enough water and some rocks to add a little foreground interest to balance up the cloudless sky.
Quite an amazing place.
