GFF: Does the UN Special Rapporteur see privacy in Germany at risk?
The UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy, Joe Cannataci was on a two-week visit to Germany. He wanted to know: To what extent do companies protect their customer data here? What data do German authorities collect about their citizens? Are the German intelligence agencies subject to democratic control that prevents abuse? How threatened is the protection of journalistic sources in Germany?

The Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte (Society for Civil Rights, GFF) und Reporter ohne Grenzen (ROG) have succeeded in securing Joe Cannataci for an exclusive roundtable at the end of his visit. In a 90-minute discussion, Cannataci reported on his conversations and criticized certain practices.

Discussants:

- Prof. Joseph Cannataci, UN Special Rapporteur on Data Protection

- Dr. Ulf Buermeyer, President of the Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte

- Christian Mihr, Managing Director of Reporters Without Borders

- Prof. Dr. Jeanette Hofmann, Research Director of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society

When: Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 from 6pm to 7.30pm
