On August 14, the Lockheed Martin-led Team Freedom held the keel laying ceremony for LCS 23, the future USS Cooperstown. In this ceremonial start of cosntruction, Cooperstown Mayor Ellen Tillapaugh authenticated the keel by having her initials welded into a keel plate, which will ultimately be welded into the complete USS Cooperstown.
