Chiapas (and Oaxaca) 2019
Together with fellow salamander enthusiasts Bobby, Wouter and Joachim I travelled through Chiapas in summer 2019 in search of amphibians and reptiles - and some very special salamanders. The exceptional drought did make it hard to find animals - but we worked even harder, and it paid off. While the experience would definitely have been a more pleasant one with rain, we managed to see several of our main targets including seven salamander species along with the elusive Nyctanolis and Ixalotriton, two Abronia species, Bothriechis bicolor, and Phrynosoma asio.
