I have been praying for your soul... II
Old Italian cemeteries are magnificent. They have brought the artistic representation of death to the highest level of accomplishment and beauty. These cemeteries are themselves dying today. As this sculpture shows, precious pieces of art are not taken care of (beside some famous exceptions). They are covered in dust and pollution that prevent visitors from appreciating their true beauty, and which deteriorate them slowly and surely. Some are already seriously damaged. Unfortunately, the Italian government doesn't have the financial means (or political will?) to assure the maintenance of these cemeteries, which are in fact art galleries.
From this angle, a web, hanging between the left ear and shoulder of the statue, can be seen.
