Caressed by the Sun
Shot taken at sunset on September 6th 2012, from the summit of Mount Rocciamelone (3,538 m), Italy.
This shot was motivated by four factors: the quality of light, the concave specular geometry between the summit crest of the Mount Croce Rossa (3.546 m) and the ridge of the mountain below, the alignment with the distant Monte Rosa massif (4.634 m).
Last but not least, the high presence of snow on this side, which is quite rare (except on winter, of course) as this face of the Corce Rossa is exposed to the southwest.
The Monte Rosa massif is indeed very far from the Rocciamelone, yet are clearly visible three peaks: Dufourspitze, Zumsteinspitze and Signalkuppe... on this last peak I guess we all know it is located the highest refuge-observatory of Europe
