The soldiers depicted in this scene of the Passion all wear contemporary armour; some fanciful details have been added to make them look more archaic, e.g. the soldier on the right wears a turban and lions' heads protruding from his surcoat to which a falchion is attached. The soldier on the left wears an unbuckled sallet. The soldier on the right wears full plate armour of the 1470s for the limbs.
