Last Journey (Explore 2020-09-19)

Dear Flickr friends,

Today, September 19, 2020, it is 6 months ago that my beloved wife Nelleke was hit by a severe cerebral haemorrhage. Two days later she died.

Today 4 months ago I described her Last Journey over the Bridge to the Light, based on my picture of the Zeeland bridge that I took that day at sunrise.

It took me these 6 months before I was able to share this story with you, because it is a painful mourning process to say goodby to my beloved one. And I needed a lot of courage to do this. This is what I wrote:

When the brain haemorrhage took over your body

When your body could no longer keep your spirit

Slowly but surely your spirit went on a journey

There was no stopping it

Nothing and nobody could stop it

But I didn't know

Soon your spirit had reached the beginning of the bridge

Body functions were increasingly failing

I was with you that whole day, didn’t leave your side

But I didn't notice this journey

Thought it was kind of a corona virus

You already saw the Light coming to you from the other side

That beckoned, you were welcome, come soon!

In the course of the day you met your Light

Jesus' eyes met your eyes at the middle of the bridge

Fused together from heart to heart in one go

The both of you walked further to the Light

Your body was left adrift

Could only breathe

with high frequency and superficial

Fought to stay alive

But it was fighting a losing battle

Two days later I heard your last breath

You had just reached the other side, the Light

You entered Heaven

Where angels sang the hymn about you

The Father embraced you

And the Spirit filled you with everlasting love and peace

All your trauma away

All your dreams fulfilled

You took your place that He has been for centuries prepared for you

Finally home, my Dear
