Morelet's Crocodile also called Mexican Crocodile
Note the disticntive black bands and spots. Native to central america, these are relatively smaller crocodiles, reaching upto 10-12 feet. Compare that with a saltie who can be 10 feet longer. These are said to be shy of humans but can attack if provoked.
Named after a French naturalist Morelet, who discovered it in Mexico. Extensive conservation measure are being taken and this species are marked as 'low risk, conservation dependent'.
Again just like NIle crocodile or Siamese crocodile, their skin is relatively free of osteoderms (bony plates in the skin) making it valuable for leather trade. This may ensure human interest in their survival!
