N. ring-necked snake eating n. slimy salamander
A northern ring-necked snake (Diadophis punctatus edwardsii) as found consuming a northern slimy salamander (Plethodon glutinosus) . The snake was curled up right by the base of a tree, virtually on the path. Found at ~4:00 pm, on a warm, dry day. I imagine the snake must have found the salamander under cover or in a burrow and dragged it out to eat it.
