030 (2) Still Hungry [P]
Another shot of the two Red-tailed Hawks in the Eagle Nest at Roberts Bay, BC.
The fact that that these birds are being raised along with three eaglets has caused quite a stir with scientists globally. Several news reporters have picked up the story. In fact I spent part of yesterday talking to reporters, as it appears I am the only one to have recorded that there was at one point two hawk chicks in the nest.
There are questions whether the second chick still lives, as it has not been seen since this day, when both of them were still begging to be fed more. The day was nearing the end, and one parent was resting nearby. I can't imagine the amount of energy they need to spend to feed all those hungry mouths.
If you want to see a video taken at this nest, Global BC News ran the story on the six o' clock news last night, and it can be seen on their website today. At the end of the report, my previous upload is shown. A video is apparently also on U Tube.
I will be busy today, as Flickr acquaintance and amazing photographer Wayne Duke (www.flickr.com/photos/40728727@N05/), is coming down Island to see and capture this phenomena. Soooo, I will have to catch up with you all later. Have a good weekend!!
