George to the Rescue 4 - Stillwagen Rescue
‘Making a difference one square foot at a time”

That’s our mission and we strive to live it each and every day through various initiatives such as our recent participation in Toys for Tots and Red Nose Day. Partnering with ‘George to the Rescue’ (GTTR), a home improvement show that helps families in need, is something we look forward to. On Saturday October 1st, the 4th ‘rescue’ that we were privileged to participate in will air on October 1st.

While all of the GTTR episodes tug at your heart for the generous contributions of strangers, this episode was especially moving. The episode involves the Stellwagen family (Amy, Jon and son Chase).

Amy’s sister-in-law (Niki) died suddenly this past March. The 39-year-old single mother complained of shortness of breath and chest pain on March 10. Doctors discovered a lung infection that led to internal hemorrhaging and sadly she passed away a day later. Niki left behind three daughters Gabby (10), Reagan (8) and Riley (6).

The question then became who would look after the daughters. Amy and Niki had discussed it previously; never thinking the need would arise.

In the blink of an eye, the Stellwagen family of three morphed into a family of seven. The family is living in the girl’s old Danbury home to finish out the school year. The plan is to remodel the Mamaroneck two-family house owned by the Stellwagens into a single-family home.
