WG760 - English Electric P1A - Royal Air Force - RAF Museum Cosford 15/11/19

First flight of this aircraft was on the 4th August 1954. This was the first of 2 prototypes and achieved Mach 1.22 in level flight, a real achievement of its day. Lessons learnt during the R&D process of this aircraft lead to the production of the English Electric Lightning which was the only UK developed aircraft capable of Mach 2.
