Crested Serpent-eagle (Spilornis cheela)

This species was quite common in Sri Lanka seen in a variety of habitats. It preys mainly on reptiles, especially tree snakes, but will also take other prey.

 

There is a recognised subspecies in Sri Lanka S. c. spilogaster
