Feb 3 & 4, 2018: On Belonging - performance
On Belonging is a performance and installation through which I continue to explore issues of displacement and identity. The project was launched at the Menil Collection on February 3 and 4, 2018 through which I shared new writings as well as offered a site-specific installation containing community responses to the question of belonging. The performances and installation were held inside the Menil Collection’s Byzantine Fresco Chapel; my installation outside the chapel remained up for viewing until February 25, 2018.

This album contains images from the performances that I offered for two afternoons at the Chapel. Special thanks to Production Manager Oskar Sonnen for running the sound board, the Menil team for documenting the first afternoon, Tony Martinez for managing the lights and Karen Martinez for documenting my performance.

The Menil Bookstore carries all volumes of Borderlines publications, which contain longer essays from which I extracted writings for my performance script.

This project is supported by the Menil Collection as part of Mona Hatoum’s Terra Infirma exhibition.
