Feb 3 & 4, 2018: On Belonging installation
On Belonging is a performance and installation through which I continue to explore issues of displacement and identity. The project was launched at the Menil Collection on February 3 and 4, 2018 through which I shared new writings as well as offered a site-specific installation containing community responses to the question of belonging. The performances and installation were held inside the Menil Collection’s Byzantine Fresco Chapel; my installation outside the chapel remained up for viewing until February 25, 2018.

This album contains images from the installation that I created outside the Chapel. Special thanks to my sister Beena Sarwar, my mother Zakia Sarwar, my friend Samina Mahmood, and Menil Collection outreach manager Tony Martinez for their help. Also, many thanks to my cousin Aisha Gazdar and my friend Kishwar Jaffer for getting the ajrak fabric to me. And deep thanks to production manager Oskar Sonnen for taking care of so much work, so we could install on time.
