Stratus Clouds
Stratus cloud over the Martian arctic on a late autumn day. This landscape features periglacial terrain, where ice accumulation during the autumn and winter forms frost polygons. This terrain is highlighted by the remnants of morning frost in the troughs between individual polygons.
This image was acquired during Mars Express' 5504th orbit of Mars, April 15, 2008.
