Texas April, 2014
From 4/9/2014 to 4/23/2014, Mike Gadbow and I put 3,000 miles on our rental cars travelling around southeast Texas looking at birds. We spent several days in the Rio Grande Valley, on the coast near Corpus Christi, Aransas NWR, Port Aransas, a state forest north of Houston, the prairie west of Houston, High Island, and several days seeing warblers in a little community reserve in Galveston. It was during a long drought and Aransas NWR was bone dry. Same for Santa Ana NWR in the Rio Grande. But still we saw a lot of cool birds. I was using a Nikon 5200 with a Sigma 150-500 lens. I learned a lot from the really expert birders and photographers that I met along the way. As usual, the birds were great and so were the birders.
