I'm not sure if you even realise how brillant and funny this collection is? In German, "Becher" means "cup" and is, at the same time, the surname of famous German photographer couple Bernd and Hilla Becher, who invented exactly the style of serial, reduced, documentary photography that you chose for this picture (good example: www.laboiteverte.fr/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/becher_gas....

So this collection is kind of a hilariously beautiful photographic ueber-pun, taking becher-style pictures of cups ("Becher") .

Thanks SurfGuard. I am familiar with the Becher's work but never new the name means cup! Very funny, unintended parody.

LTL Architects designed Ini Ani Coffee Shop in NYC, now closed. They used coffee cup lids as a surface wall treatment :

HA! I work for a company that designs and manufactures these types of lids. You would not believe how much work goes into these simple little limps of plastic.

Nice collection btw and well photographed!

I just saw this image on etsy.com I love the collection! I collect some random things but like you if you think about the time and design people put into things you can really appreciate them more. Thanks for sharing.

Is this available as a print I could order somewhere??? I would love to have this in my house framed...very unusual and interesting. Thanks

@pirateblue --the original file is pretty large, you could just print it out on nice photo paper from here and frame it. I have not made it as a poster, sorry.

I'm not a big traveler but I've found that certain designs are more favored in certain areas. In San Francisco I almost always see designs like the top left one. In New York City designs like the lower left, particularly fourth row left-most and fifth-row second one in, seem more common.
