2015-04-18 Fremont Tartan Day
SAMS Post 1921 has been attending the Tartan Day celebration for several years. It has progressed from a simple gathering to a larger event with Highland Athletics and every year more clans attend, along with excellent music and vendors. The three young ladies were from a local high school working as part of their Community Service. We had an excellent opportunity to educate them about Scottish history, as they were very interested. The tents were on the perimeter of the lawn and all clans were able to listen to the music. The three groups there were excellent. Also of note, the caber used in the toss, was a fresh tree trunk, with the nubs from the branches and they smoothed out the bottom of the tree for holding it.,
