Tatsuko - Heisei Era Geiko's Hikizuri

Tatsuko - Dragon Lady

This is actually the very first hikizuri I ever purchased. It was a graduation present for myself when I finished university. I had it out today, so I decided to finally get some nice pictures of it.

Anyways, I think this hikizuri was specifically designed for an odori performance. I doubt it was worn for a geiko's everyday use. This is because geiko kimono usually have very little lame on them, while this kimono has a fair bit of gold and silver lame on it. Also, the design is somewhat simplified compared to most geiko hikizuri I've seen. Basically, it has a design highly suited to being seen from far away; perfect for performance. That said, it is crested and silk, so definitely a geisha's kimono, not simply a stage costume.
