English Cottage (main)

Hi everyone!

It's–it's been a minute, you know? Haven't posted anything in awhile, but I'm back for a hot second! I started this back in March, and actually built most of it fairly quickly (which is not normal for me :P), but due to my landscaping job, had zero time to finish small details and take pictures, much less edit them. I'd get home and go to sleep haha. But, all that aside, I am super happy with how this turned out. I feel like I see too many LEGO tudor houses (I'm not dissing anyone–tudor houses look GREAT–that's just my observation haha), and I really wanted to try something new. So I looked up old cottages in Europe, and came across some pretty awesome, solid stone houses. I was inspired. :P

Also, I've realized recently that I haven't been challenging myself in larger builds, which makes the end result somewhat less satisfying. So in this build, I challenged myself in four ways: 1) it had to be built on an uneven base (something I often have a hard time with), 2) the MOC had to be viewable from all sides with equal detailing throughout, 3) I had to incorporate obvious angles into the landscape that would fit/flow seamlessly, and 4) my house had to have an interior. #4 was the hardest, not only because I've never really built an interior before (the rafters were SO HARD to get right! I went through so many different designs), but it also meant the walls had to look good from both the outside, as well as the inside.

But wow, those three challenges made my building experience so much more interesting and exciting! I hope you guys like the final product as much as I do! Everything about this MOC was fun to build (and maybe frustrating sometimes but overall a great experience haha). It's on my list of favorites (I might even consider this better than my castle). As always, the pictures don't quite do it justice, but that's how I always feel haha.

I was hoping to get some more building in, but I wasn't able to make it happen. I've got a job at a summer camp, and I leave tomorrow. So I'm going to disappear again for a few months, then hopefully be back with another large project. :D

Thanks for viewing (and not forgetting about me :P)!
